The women work 12 hour days in Ba Ri Tailors with only 2 days off a month. They work hard and they’re good at what they do, from a family of 3rd and 4th generation seamstresses. The guys play cards, drink beer and sing karaoke, by all accounts.

80% of tourists that go to Hoi An buy a suit. If a hotel recommends a tailor then they have to pay commission to that hotel, meaning your price might be moderated/inflated. It’s up to you if you want to haggle. Personally I don’t bother.

You’ll need a couple of days at least to get fitted. We came back a bunch of times, the initial fit, the base fit and the final fit. If you need to kill a couple of hours in Hoi An go to the Mango Rooms, they have happy hour cocktails.
