Luke Barnatt - Photographed for UFC Magazine by Tom Bunning

With the exception of getting my picture taken with Pat Sharpe in 2007, my biggest claim to fame is that I bought Luke Barnatt’s tele for 400 sheets back in 2008. Luke worked above my flatmates shop in Chelmsford back in the day. After discovering Luke was into martial arts I would take it upon myself to test his reflexes, springing ninja-esque attacks on him when ever I was hammered. A bit a like a p*ssed Kato. I’d like to say I got in a couple of clean punches but Luke was not going to be undone by an inebriated wind-milling shortarse. (I believe Eddie Izzard would refer to it, as all martial and no art). Luke would swat me away like a wasp at a picnic. Like Zod walking into a bar, picking up the nearest hill billy and launching him through a wall single handed.

I’ve kept an eye on his journey as a professional kick-ass, and now that he is on the comeback trail, bidding for his place back in the UFC, I had a couple of pertinent questions that I needed to ask.

rocky-4

List the Rocky franchise from best to worst

Rocky 4, Rocky 2, Rocky 1, Creed, Rocky Bolboa, Rocky 3, Rocky 5.

I always insist on sex before a fight. Sometimes sex whilst fighting. Do you adopt a similar principle?

Pretty much! But I’m away from my wife on fight week as its always better to focus on fight night… So it’s normally a 5 Day ban… Due to circumstances not choice!!

How do you not flinch when someone throws a punch? I always flinch or play dead. How can I get prevent that?

Practice.. I’ve been hit a lot it becomes a lot less of a big deal after the 1000th time.

If the other guy has lots of tattoos does that intimidate you slightly? Just a little bit.

Hahaha it does the opposite basically means they’re an insecure bitch who needs to try and add some manliness via INK!

At the weigh in, when you have to strip off to your kegs, do you ever give the ol boy a couple of taps before hand to get some blood in it for the cameras?

Bloody good idea but I’m usually lacking bodily fluid by about 25lbs so I go for the sock method instead…. No really I just rock it and if I’m swinging left or right I just go with it!
