Who is Christine Dang?
Christine Dang, please introduce yourself, who are you and what do you do?
My name is Christine Dang, but most call me C Dang, Dang or Dang-er.
I live in Beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia of Canada – a city filled with foodies.
I have a keen interest in social interactions, and people to people bonding. It is fascinating how our human minds work and how rapidly it can change!
If we could start to understand and harness Social Awareness, we can be the positive change to enhance our lives and the lives of others in every aspect.
As lame as it sounds, I’d like to think of myself as a creative superhero, I have a passion for life, I find art in everything I do and see, and hope to inspire others to love it just as much.
My Mind and Body – I was recently (July 20, 2018) in an MVA (motor vehicle accident) and totalled my car.
Thankfully I didn’t break anything and walked away with a Grade 3 whiplash (1 grade away from neck fracture).
Mind – I meditate every morning to keep the negative, self-defeating talk at bay.
I give my thanks every morning for being alive.
I cannot stress how important it is to take care of your mind through meditation. It all began for me in Nov 2017, and I will never look back.
I’ve changed for the better, I’m the happiest I could be and I’m more in tune with the beauty we seem to always miss when we are busy.
Headspace is an amazing app if anyone wants to give it a try.
Body – Since Nov 2017, I started to really take care of myself by eating plant-based food Mon-Fri, and practised Yoga every morning. I started to fall in love with myself.
A love I have never had for myself in the past. Right after the MVA, I wasn’t able to move my head and I was stiff as a board.
Every movement brought tears due to pains but grateful I was able to walk! After 2 months of hard work with my Physiotherapist, I did my first 1-hour yoga class over the weekend. Brought tears to my eyes, but happy ones. Success.
What are your favourite things about social media, what do you think your life would be like without it?
Social media is an amazing tool to bridge gaps between family, friends, businesses, customers and much more.
Within our era, more and more people are mobile, whether they are moving for jobs, or lives far away from their families. People tend to build and maintain relationships through social media.
But there should always be a balance.
My life wouldn’t be as efficient. It’ll be a little harder to find updates on news/family/friends and would take more time to learn/grow/prosper.
I’ve heard all the ‘Dang’ jokes. Dang is my Family name.
First thing in the morning, do you check local news, national news, or your social news feeds?
Social Media News Feeds – I’m able to choose and pick news I am more interested in.
Although knowing what’s going on in your community is great.
Often, local/national news features news that is negative – enabling sadness, fear, anger and all the feelings that make us not feel good.
I rather spend my emotion and energy on topics that are innovative, a change for a better world, if you would.
Soak in the excitement and project more of that energy out back to the world.
How often do you get asked out on social media versus real life?
I don’t recall the last time someone asked me out on a date in real life. Three things that come to mind: 1. I’ve been told I could be intimidating, even tho I’m friendly. 2. I’m rarely out and 3. I’m clueless when it comes to dating. Ha!
As for social media, guys are a bit more daring since it isn’t face-to-face. I’d say a couple of times a month.
What brands would you love to work with?
Nike – I’m a sneaker lover, and I’m a HUGE fan of Nike. I love the technicality of innovative materials. I love the sleek, cool look.
Chanel – THE house of Fashion.
What’s your motivation for staying in shape?
We have one life, and I’m planning to make sure I make the best out of mine. I can’t do that if my body slows me down.
There’s so much to see and experience.
Also, my dad was pretty sick at one point and is a diabetic type 2.
All could be reversed if we keep our bodies active and eating right.
What diet tips would you pass on?
This past year, I gave intermediate fasting a shot, and I love it. I find it is the easiest to follow.
Eat between 12 pm to 8 pm. That’s it. To my surprise, I slimmed down and yoga helped toned my body quicker.
I feel great without working out as much as I use to. Give it a try.
These are my set of rule I’ve sent for myself. Because you are what you eat!
Them Dang Rules
- Minimize sugar and processed foods intake.
- Eat more veggies and fruits than meats
- Drink lots of water
Your favourite style icon, and why?
Coco Chanel – A bold woman and dressed as she sees fits. Unafraid to be different in the 1920s, a time where women work long big dresses and carried pouches as a handbag/purse.
Mme Chanel dared to create tomboy outfits out of jockey wear and wore pants (only men wore pants during that time).
She went on to create the famous classic little black dress, Classic Flap Bag and dressed with pearl necklaces.
She is very particular about details and I love that she’s always hands-on to create anything and everything. How can she not be THE style icon? She single-handedly set fashion forward for women.
Finally Christine Dang, what is your favourite quote?
“The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” – Coco Chanel
I was fortunate to work for the Chanel Boutique from 2008-2012. I fell in love with Chanel’s history.
Because I worked there, a lot of people do assume I’m a snob or own a shit ton of Chanel pieces. I’m quite friendly and I do own key pieces (about 5 pieces total. lol. – Christine Dang – September 2018
