Yes I’m talking about Harman again!
The regular followers of the blog may have noticed I’ve been fetishising over Harman Kardon ever since my trip to the Harman Northridge Experience Center and Sound Lab in California last year.
That’s why early this week, I ran like a powered up Pac Man to witness Harman Kardon present its new line of Citation speakers at the V&A for London Design Festival.
The installation is part of the 2018 programme of commissioned projects at the V&A for London Design Festival.
It has been created by esteemed UK designers / engineers Arup and is inspired by the inimitable composer Arvo Pärt.
For more than 65 years, Harman Kardon has been leading audio engineering and design, captivating ears and hearts throughout generations.
The Citation speakers, unveiled at IFA 2018, represents its latest feat.
What to expect at the exhibition?
The exhibition will run through until September 23rd in the 18th Century V&A Norfolk House Music Room.
Visitors will get to detach from their perpetual mundanities and decompress; their mortal sensibilities disseminated to all four corners of the room swept by Pärt’s ethereal music, powered by the Harman Kardon Citation speakers. (Eat that Flesch–Kincaid).
Combining superior sound performance, state-of-the-art voice control and breathtaking design, a selection of Citation speakers will be used in the installation to play four of Arvo Pärt’s most famous pieces.
Pärt’s Best known for “Spiegel im Spiegel” (Mirror in the Mirror).
*Imagine a more melancholic Phillip Glass.
The speakers feature the brand’s signature industrial design adorned with elegant aluminium detailing.
Bringing the beguiling aesthetics together is the Winter Gray or Classic Black wool fabric from Kvadrat, the European leader in acoustic textiles, that are dirt-repellant and flame-retardant.
About the Citation Speakers
This timeless design marries Harman Kardon’s expertise in sound engineering and technology with the style and panache of Kvadrat.
The Citation Speakers deliver a dynamic listening experience, with options to use the speakers individually or build a powerful 5.1-channel surround sound system.
Their multi-room capabilities allow for the control of intense sound from any room, either playing from one music source or playing a multitude of tracks in different rooms.
Can Citation do the whole Google thing?
You bet your life it can! Citation also features Google Assistant. Streaming the newest or most popular music is now quick and efficient with Google’s intelligent voice-activation.
Smart voice control also makes tackling tasks as simple as saying “Hey Google,” to create calendar reminders, generate to-do lists, get the latest forecast, control smart home devices and more.
Commands like “Hey Google, play some jazz” or “Hey Google, dim the lights,” perfectly regulates the ambiance in any room of the home.
The Harman Kardon Citation was announced at IFA 2018. Any speaker within the line can be pre-ordered at the Harman Kardon website at the beginning of October.
