Who is Stripey Coral?
Stripey Coral is a forty-something London-based mum who has spent the last 20 years entrenched in the fashion industry.
She’s spent the last four years working part-time as a marketing manager for a well-known consignment store. I’m enamoured with the honest simplicity of her instagram page which can be shopped through her blog.
I started in the retail sector – initially in sales, working my way into management, then I headed up the training department for a well known luxury high street brand.
Along the way I’ve been lucky enough to try different roles in-house for brands such as styling and social media.
When did you introduce the shop my instagram feature and how hard was it to implement within your blog?
About nine months ago – I’m lucky enough to have a friend who is an IT whiz, who helped me add it to my blog.
(Thanks Tim!) It’s been a really popular addition to my page. (PS – Tim if you’re reading please get in touch, I’m sure many other bloggers would love to utilise this tool and hire your services. Editor).
What’s the best part of your job?
That’s a tricky question. I love so many parts of my job in consignment designer fashion.
But probably my favourite aspect is seeing so many brands of clothing, shoes and accessories – it’s a really diverse range. I even discover new brands on a regular basis.
How addictive can social media be and how precious are you about the quality of images that you publish?
It’s very addictive and takes up a lot of my time – both in my job as a digital marketing manager and also updating my stripeycoral page. I probably spend several hours a day on social platforms. And quality always beats quantity.
Would you recommend others to start out blogging or do you think the market is too saturated now?
I think if you have a new twist on blogging or Instagram then there is definitely room for you. I’ve seen some great new people coming through recently.
Whats been the best campaign you’ve worked on so far? And what brands would you love to work with in the future?
Again, another tricky one to answer!
I’ve been very lucky to work with a number of brands and had so many fantastic opportunities through my stripeycoral Instagram page.
I feel very fortunate to have worked with all of them.
As for one I’d love to work with it has to be Rixo – I have a real passion for this vintage-inspired brand!
As someone coming into their 40’s whats the secret to staying slim jim?
Personally, I try not to eat after 7pm unless I’m going out for dinner and have a full 12 hour break before I eat again. My diet is mainly vegetarian too.
I walk everywhere and run up and down escalators on my way to and from work (this is usually as I’m running late though).
