WHO IS VERA HAVRDA?
Vera Havrda, 22, is half Czech and half Swiss. She grew up in the Czech Republic but at the 14 years old, her family moved to Switzerland to start a new life.
In her own words..
‘It wasn’t easy at all but in the end it made me stronger and I got to know who I really was.
Since a very young age it wasn’t easy for me to be …me! When I was 6 years old they diagnosed with me a thyroid disfunction.
I was gaining and gaining weight and nobody knew why. This disease changed everything.
Women like Ashley Graham led me to the right path – Vera
Since that time food and diets were a permanent topic in my life.
I started to hate myself and everything that had to do with my body – I hated clothes because they never fit, I hated food because I liked it too much and I hated every single part of my body.
Between the age of 12 and 20 I had several eatings disorders.
My recovery took a long time and I am still fighting.
Sometimes I still have struggles to accept myself and the way I look like but women like Iskra Lawrence or Ashley Graham led me to the right path and helped me a lot.
Those women are part of a body positivity movement that helps millions of women all over the world.
They opened my eyes and showed me that we are all different and beautiful.
No matter what size of jeans we wear or what the scale says.
Our worth isn’t determined my those things. Diversity is our strength.
Those thoughts are the ones I wanna share on my Instagram. I wanna share positivity, good vibes, happiness and love.
Because sharing love is one oft he most beautiful things on earth. – Vera Havrda
What’s the best thing to do in Switzerland that the tourists don’t know about?
Your favourite fashion designer?
I don’t really have a favourite fashion designer. I just wear what I like and what suits my body and character.
Your work out routine and motivation?
I work out 5 times per week. I am a big fan of all Les Mills group fitness workouts. It’s much easier for me to work out in a group because you know that you aren’t the only one struggling. And I love the loud and dynamic music.
What keeps me motivated? Mhmm, the more I work out the more chocolate I can eat. I am such a chocolate lover!
Your favourite language or accent?
I just really love the Russian language and I think that also the Russian accent is very very attractive.
Your party trick?
Good music, good people and a cute sassy top!
A certain type of clothing or style that you hate seeing on men?
When they are wearing more jewellery than any women.
As of May 2018 Vera is no longer on social media so I have instead included links to our influencer Pinterest board where you can find other inspirational stories.
I was tempted to take this post down but Vera talked eloquently about Ashley Graham and how she inspired her and the article has clearly resonated with people.
